When 16-year-old rookie Mark Modest approached AWESOME officials seeking an opportunity with the promotion (which typically does not sign wrestlers with less than five years experience) he was told he could enter the Opportunity of a Lifetime Battle Royal to try earn a roster spot. Luck however was against the youngster who drew #2 in the 22 man staggered entrance event. Yet he fought on and managed to last to the very end--eliminating six wrestler before falling to eventual winner Falah.
Modest took the loss in stride and vowed to one day win a spot on the roster. Six months later Modest made good on his vow in a match against fellow (and much bigger) rookie Cory Havoc, where the winner would get a contract and Modest managed to hit a diamond cutter for the pin.
Once on the roster Modest soon found himself targeted by another Toms River rookie teen competitor Mike Matixx, who had managed to weasel a spot on the roster by sucking up to MySpace Champion Radical Robby Morrison and his Commune. The two feuded for most of 2007 culminating in Modest scoring a big victory over Matixx at the One Year Anniversary Show, where he was also voted Rookie of the Year by the fans.
Modest now found himself as the top contender to Morrison's MySpace title and with a little help from WWE's Original Diva Sunny managed to overcome a concussion and end Morrison's 15 month title reign in April 2008. The Commune continued to be a thorn in Modest 's side in the months that followed: even handcuffing him to the ropes and caning him at one point in front of his hometown fans, friends and family. Modest finally ended the feud and avenged his prior humiliation when AWESOME returned to Toms River by defeating Morrison in an "I Quit" match at a Night of Legends and Champions. As MySpace Champion Modest has also defended the title against veterans such as Playboy Vik Voorhees and John Cannon.
