Considered by many fans to be a modern day Rocky, Jay Blaze may be the most popular wrestler in all of AWESOME. The story of Jay Blaze begins at the dawn of the millenium when he was a young rookie competing in the north Jersey independent scene and was considered to be the one of the biggest potential stars in the cruiserweight division. Then suddenly just as success seemed to be his, Blaze suffered what he was told was a career ending back injury and for four years no one saw Jay Blaze again.
When AWESOME opened its doors Blaze was hired for the first show to be the voice of AWESOME behind the commentary booth. However, being close to the ring enobled Blaze to begin a comeback training regimen and thus six months later Blaze returned to the ring for the first time four years against a long time foe--the superheavyweight Playboy Vik Voorhees where he showed he still had the goods when he scored a pinfall victory with the Blaze of Glory.
Since then Blaze's comeback has brought him tantitallizingly close to capturing championship gold. He was narrowly defeated by WWE Legend and ECW Original Spike Dudley in the semi-finals of the Championship of AWESOME tournament. Despite the loss he earned the Legend's respect and was offered a handshake at the end of the match. He later challenged champion Falah (then known as Franciz) to singles action and if not for the antics of Liz Savage may have won the gold.
Undeterred by the loss Blaze began to train even harder and has won numerous matches in the past year against the largest foes on the AWESOME roster and is once again ranked at the top of the contenders list for Falah's gold.
